Vietnam prepares for National Day holiday travel surge

Vietnam is preparing for a major surge in domestic travel during the National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, 2026. Various regions and cities have implemented measures to accommodate the influx of tourists.

Hanoi has announced free admission to many historical sites and cultural landmarks, such as the Temple of Literature, and will waive fares for buses and urban railways to encourage public transport use. Similarly, Da Nang is offering free entry to several major museums. In the central highlands, Gia Lai will host a cultural and tourism exhibition to promote regional heritage.

Infrastructure and transport sectors are also scaling up. The North-South Expressway will have 28 rest stops and parking areas operational to assist travelers. Noi Bai International Airport is optimizing infrastructure and increasing flight slots to handle a projected increase in passenger volume. Public transport providers like Transerco in Hanoi are mobilizing thousands of bus trips to ensure smooth mobility.
