Hanoi announces road expansion and bridge repairs
The Hanoi Department of Construction has announced significant traffic adjustments and infrastructure works in the capital.
On O Cho Dua Street, the road will be expanded by 5.5 meters on each side between house numbers 34 and 80 to accommodate increased traffic following the technical opening of the Ring Road 1 main line. Starting October 9, 2026, the street will be reorganized to feature three lanes in each direction, supported by new signage and adjusted traffic signals.
Simultaneously, traffic on Thanh Tri Bridge will be modified from October 1 through December 25, 2026, to facilitate repairs to the bridge's spans, bearings, and pillars. During this period, the maximum speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h. To minimize congestion, construction work is scheduled to take place primarily at night, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, with all equipment cleared by 5:00 AM daily.
