Hanoi attracts over $4 billion in foreign direct investment

Hanoi has attracted over $4.07 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) through the first nine months of 2026, reaching 90.38% of its $4.5 billion annual target. In September alone, the city secured approximately $329.94 million, representing a 6.3-fold increase compared to the same month in 2025 and nearly triple the amount recorded in August.

Professional, scientific, and technological activities were the primary recipients of these funds, accounting for $2.24 billion, or 55.2% of the total FDI. Other significant sectors include real estate, wholesale and retail, information and communications, and business support services. In September, two new real estate projects were approved for $93.70 million, while three manufacturing projects increased their capital by $188.49 million, the highest increase in that sector this year.

The FDI sector continues to drive economic performance in the capital. Exports from foreign-invested enterprises reached $7.742 billion, a 17.9% year-on-year increase, while budget revenues from these companies rose by 33.9% to approximately 34.3 trillion dongs ($1.32 billion).
