Hanoi authorities host community firefighting and rescue training

The Hanoi Firefighting and Rescue Police, in collaboration with the People's Committees of Cau Giay and Yen Hoa wards, organized a community education and practical experience program at Cau Giay Park. The event aimed to raise awareness and equip citizens with essential firefighting and rescue skills.

Approximately 1,000 participants, including students and workers, engaged in hands-on training. Activities included learning how to use portable fire extinguishers, practicing first aid, and navigating simulated smoke-filled environments. Participants were instructed on the “calm – alarm – cut power – extinguish – escape” protocol, as well as how to identify escape routes and assist vulnerable individuals like children and the elderly.

Educational resources also emphasize the fundamental science of fire, noting that combustion requires fuel, oxygen (above 14%), and a heat source. Guidance includes recognizing different fire classes—ranging from solids and liquids to electrical and metal fires—and essential survival tactics, such as staying low to the ground to avoid smoke and using wet cloth to protect respiratory paths.
