Hanoi primary schools suspend meals over food safety concerns
Primary schools in Quảng Bị Commune, Hanoi, have suspended boarding meal services following concerns over food quality and safety. The decision follows complaints from parents regarding meat that appeared to be “tóp mỡ” (fatty scraps) and damaged vegetables.
On September 26, the Quảng Bị Commune People's Committee ordered the termination of service contracts with Thăng Long Trade Development and Investment Joint Stock Company. An interdisciplinary inspection conducted by Hanoi authorities revealed several violations, including the inability to trace food origins due to incomplete data entry on the required management systems. The inspection also noted breaches in kitchen hygiene protocols, such as improper handling of raw meat.
Quảng Bị 1 and Quảng Bị 2 Primary Schools have notified parents that meal services are paused while the local government urgently seeks a new, qualified provider that meets all city standards and safety regulations.
