Hanoi begins land‑acquisition for 381 Nguyễn Khang road upgrade

The Hanoi Department of Construction has started a land‑acquisition phase for the reconstruction and widening of alley 381 Nguyễn Khang in the Cầu Giấy district. The project, budgeted at over VND 300 billion, aims to remove a long‑standing traffic bottleneck and modernise a narrow, deteriorated passage that residents have long called the city’s most congested “painful alley.”

From late June 2026, households along the alley have relocated and handed over their properties, with the ward authority reviewing compensation and resettlement requests case by case. After clearance, construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026. When completed, the upgraded stretch will connect Ring Roads 2, 2.5 and 3, providing a direct link from Thánh Thái Street to Yên Hòa Bridge across the Tô Lịch River, and is expected to significantly cut travel time and ease congestion for commuters and schoolchildren in the area.
