Hanoi council to tackle urban flooding and 873 land expropriation projects at July meeting

The Hanoi People's Council (HĐND) will hold its mid‑year session from 14‑16 July 2026. The three‑day meeting will review 48 agenda items, including the city’s economic‑social development plan, budget execution and future tasks. A key focus will be a questioning session on urban flooding, which officials say affects food safety, the environment and traffic congestion, and on the safety of school lunch programs for primary students.

The council will also consider adding 873 land‑expropriation projects covering roughly 11,563 ha. The projects span four priority areas: transport and regional connectivity; education, health and social infrastructure; industrial, urban and housing development; and land‑fund, auction and resettlement schemes. Officials emphasized that each project will be examined for legal compliance, feasibility, efficient land use and protection of affected owners’ rights. The intended outcome is to boost infrastructure, improve living standards and generate revenue for further development in the capital.
