Hanoi expands National Highway 1A, relocating 210 households

The Kim Lien ward of Hanoi will expand National Highway 1A under a public‑private partnership. The 1.1 km project, covering about 52,300 m², is slated for completion in September 2026. Land will be acquired from eight organisations and roughly 210 households – about 150 families living in three old apartment blocks and 60 individual landowners.

Compensation is offered to owners of legally recognised land and houses. Support measures include up to 80% of the new construction cost for homes with temporary or expired permits, 50% for illegal structures, a VND 10 million relocation allowance per landowner, temporary housing, and assistance for businesses that must cease operations. Affected residents will be resettled on land in a multi‑purpose urban area developed by Vingroup in the Tam Hưng and Bình Minh communes. The upgraded corridor is intended to modernise the highway into an urban traffic axis, improving connectivity between central Hanoi, southern districts, ring roads and inter‑regional routes.
