Hanoi experiences rare cool spell before early June heat returns

Hanoi enjoyed an unusually mild period from June 9‑11, with daytime temperatures between 28‑30 °C and lows around 23‑25 °C, marking the first noticeable cold snap in the capital in 12 years. Meteorologists noted that such June cold air has been recorded only seven times since 1991.

Rainfall decreased sharply after a night of showers, leaving the city mostly dry, but forecasts indicate that the heat will resume around June 13, with temperatures expected to rise again, albeit slightly milder than previous extreme heatwaves.

Residents took advantage of the cooler air to exercise outdoors and enjoy clearer skies, while authorities warned of possible localized thunderstorms and strong gusts as the weather transitions back to typical summer conditions.
