Vietnam endures July heatwave with temperatures up to 35 °C and scattered thunderstorms

The Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasts warned that central Vietnam will see daytime highs of 32‑35 °C on 7 July, with rain showers and isolated thunderstorms developing in the late afternoon and evening. Similar conditions are expected in Hanoi, where temperatures will reach 33‑35 °C during the day and brief showers and possible lightning will occur after sunset.

For 8 July, forecasts across the country remain largely consistent: continued high temperatures, especially from Thanh Hóa to Huế, and intermittent rain‑showers and thunderstorms in the north‑east and highland regions. Authorities advise residents to avoid outdoor work during peak heat, stay hydrated, and take shelter away from tall trees or structures when thunderstorms arise, as strong gusts, hail, and lightning are possible.

The weather pattern follows a recent period of heavy rain linked to a lingering tropical disturbance, but the current high‑pressure ridge is bringing clear skies and strong heat to much of the nation.
