Vietnam Accelerates Massive Social Housing Builds in Hanoi and Thanh Hóa
Vietnam’s government is launching an extensive social‑housing programme for 2026‑2030. Hanoi will develop more than 40 projects, investing roughly 77,400 billion VND to deliver about 41,600 apartments, including the flagship Việt Hưng complex with 5,037 units and a 7,820 billion VND budget. The city targets at least 18,700 qualifying units in 2026 and aims for a total of 25,000‑27,000 apartments thereafter.
In the central province of Thanh Hóa, authorities have set a goal of 32,504 social‑housing units by 2030. Between 2026 and 2030 the province plans to complete 6,250 units, with 900 slated for 2026 and 1,000 for 2027.
The private market is also expanding rapidly. In the most recent quarter, Hanoi and the adjacent Hưng Yên province added 9,300 new apartments, a 6 % rise from the previous quarter and 23 % year‑on‑year. Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces reported 11,200 new units, up 203 % quarter‑on‑quarter and 51 % year‑on‑year, indicating strong demand across the country.
