Soc Son forest protection violations confirmed in Hanoi

The Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment has confirmed reports of illegal construction and land leveling within the protected forest boundaries of Soc Son, specifically in Kim Anh Commune near Dong Do Lake.

An inspection revealed that approximately 192.71 hectares of forest protection land are affected, with 810 plots containing existing structures and 740 plots being vacant or fenced. Authorities noted that the Kim Anh Commune People's Committee failed to detect and handle these violations in a timely manner, placing responsibility on the commune's leadership.

Among the identified violations, several cases have emerged after July 1, 2025. While two cases have been forcibly rectified, three remain unresolved, including the SOLARA Dong Do complex, which features a three-story brick house, a swimming pool, and a pickleball court. One older violation is currently subject to an administrative lawsuit in the Hanoi People's Court.
