Hanoi Police prosecute seven over illegal forest villas

Hanoi Police have initiated two criminal cases and prosecuted seven individuals in connection with the illegal construction of villas and homestays within protected forest areas. The investigation follows reports regarding unauthorized developments around Dong Do Lake and in the Soc Son district, specifically within Kim Anh commune.

Among those prosecuted is Nguyen Van Hoa, a former village leader in Minh Tan (now Thai Vu, Kim Anh commune), who is being investigated for receiving bribes. Authorities are also conducting forced demolitions of several illegal structures. The investigation aims to address long-standing violations where land was cleared and landscapes were significantly altered for resort-style developments.
