Hanoi pushes ahead with Mai Linh bridge and Nguyen Tuan road upgrades

The new Mai Lĩnh bridge on National Road 6, a 1.03 km structure with ten piers and four vehicle lanes, has entered the main structure phase after nearly a year of work. Approved in 2022 and slated for completion in 2027, the project costs more than VND 8,100 billion and is intended to double capacity on a key corridor linking Hanoi with the northwest region, easing long‑standing congestion.

In the city’s Thanh Xuân district, the 720‑metre Nguyen Tuân street expansion has been largely finished. The road, widened to 21 metres (15 metres for traffic and 3‑metre sidewalks on each side), was approved in 2018 but faced repeated delays due to land‑acquisition issues affecting 160 households. With the disputed property now cleared and final works such as sidewalks, greenery and lighting completed, the upgraded thoroughfare is expected to improve traffic flow in a densely populated area of western Hanoi.
