Hanoi reports 27 active dengue fever outbreaks

Hanoi is currently managing 27 active dengue fever outbreaks. According to the Hanoi Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the city recorded 349 dengue cases between September 11 and September 18, representing a decrease of 10 cases compared to the previous week. Since the beginning of 2026, the city has documented 3,206 dengue cases across 118 wards and communes, with no reported fatalities.

In addition to dengue, the city reported 139 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease during the same period, a decrease of 66 cases from the prior week. There are currently four active outbreaks of this disease. The CDC noted that infection rates for these illnesses may continue to rise during September and October due to annual seasonal cycles.

Other reported illnesses in the past week include two cases of measles, one case of pertussis, one case of streptococcus suis, one case of Japanese encephalitis, one case of meningococcal disease, and 13 cases of COVID-19. Health authorities have instructed medical stations to increase surveillance and prompt investigation of outbreaks to limit transmission.
