Hanoi reports surge in dengue and hand‑foot‑mouth disease cases

The Hanoi Center for Disease Control recorded 96 dengue cases from July 10‑17, a rise of 22 over the previous week and bringing the year‑to‑date total to 725. Five new dengue clusters were identified in the districts of Hong Vân, Khương Đình, Phúc Thọ, Yên Hòa and Yên Lãng, adding to a total of 27 clusters this year.

Hand‑foot‑mouth disease also increased, with 124 cases reported in the same week, up 58 from the prior week and reaching 4,075 cases since the start of 2026. Measles cases fell to 10 for the week (340 YTD), while chickenpox rose to 9 weekly cases (77 YTD). COVID‑19 added 96 new infections, totaling 403 for the year.

Health authorities warned that dengue typically rises seasonally and may continue climbing as the rainy season progresses. They urged residents to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, ensure children are fully vaccinated, and seek medical care promptly if symptoms appear. Additional surveillance and vector‑control measures are planned for high‑risk areas.
