Hanoi school meals gain praise for nutrition and low cost

Parents in Hanoi are sharing images of nutritious school boarding meals on social media following the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Many have expressed surprise at the quality and variety of the meals, which cost approximately 12,000 VND per serving.

These meals typically include a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins, such as rice, meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, and milk. The transparency regarding meal quality and pricing has helped build community trust.

This development follows a resolution by the Hanoi People's Council to implement a boarding meal support mechanism for elementary students. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, a support level of 40,000 VND per student per day will be applied to specific groups of students in difficult circumstances.
