Vietnam schools address catering, infrastructure, and supply challenges

Vietnam is addressing various challenges in the school system for the 2026-2027 academic year, ranging from catering quality to infrastructure and supplies.

In Hanoi, several schools have faced significant issues with school meal providers. Reports indicate late deliveries, insufficient food quantities, and hygiene concerns, such as uncleaned transport vehicles. In response, some local authorities have terminated contracts with problematic suppliers to implement direct cooking at schools or find new vendors. To improve transparency, the HanoiCheck digital system has been introduced, allowing parents to monitor food origins, nutritional content, and menus via QR codes.

In Quang Ninh, authorities are investing nearly 29 billion VND to install air conditioning in high schools to improve learning conditions. Meanwhile, in Ha Tinh, schools are enhancing meal transparency by making ingredient sources and actual meal photos available to parents via digital platforms.

Other regional issues include shortages of textbooks in major cities due to supply chain gaps and parental purchasing patterns, and concerns in Ha Tinh where school renovations have temporarily prevented some primary schools from offering boarding services.
