Hanoi speeds up Ring Road 1 construction, targets opening before Sep 2

The Hanoi municipal government has ordered an accelerated schedule for the Ring Road 1 project’s Hoàng Cầu‑Voi Phục segment, aiming to allow traffic to flow on the entire stretch before 2 September 2026 and to finish the overall ring road within the year. City officials have instructed relevant departments to remove obstacles, coordinate with the planned Metro Line 5, and review fixed‑price contracts for bridge‑overpass works under the 2026 Capital Law.

Construction progress includes asphalt surfacing on about 750 metres of one lane, installation of bridge pillars, and the planting of eight to nine species of trees and flowers along the median, with green‑belt work scheduled for completion on 2 July. Sidewalk paving is also underway. While part of the road is already open and has eased traffic on La Thành street, residents report difficulties due to the road surface being lower than adjacent house foundations, prompting temporary footpaths and disruptions to nearby businesses.

The city hopes the accelerated timeline will reduce congestion, improve urban mobility, and minimize further inconvenience to the surrounding neighbourhoods.
