Hanoi suspends new social housing investment approvals
The Hanoi Party Committee Standing Committee has requested a temporary suspension on approving investment policies for new social housing projects, except in specific cases. This pause is intended to allow for adjustments to the city’s housing development plan.
Authorities aim to prioritize the use of existing land funds, particularly clean land with synchronized technical infrastructure, to accelerate social housing progress and prevent wasteful, scattered investment. The committee emphasized that social housing development must align with the city’s overall urban planning, actual demand, and resource availability.
The city administration and specialized agencies have been tasked with reviewing current social housing projects and land funds. A revised housing development plan, including a clear list of projects, land funds, and implementation roadmaps, is expected to be completed by November 30, 2026.
