Hanoi targets 11% GRDP growth in 2026 as officials accelerate development plans

Mayor Vũ Đại Thắng told Hanoi’s city council that the goal of 11% GRDP growth for 2026 is attainable if new economic drivers are fully leveraged. The city posted 8.22% growth in the first six months of 2026 and now aims for an average of about 13% in the second half—12.5% in Q3 and 13.4% in Q4—to reach the target. He highlighted recent legal reforms, including the 2026 Capital Law and new decentralisation measures, that have cleared long‑standing bottlenecks and sped up major infrastructure projects such as ring roads, bridge works and urban housing.

Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Đỗ Văn Chiến urged rapid revision of the growth scenario, emphasizing the need to remove remaining obstacles and mobilise resources. He praised Hanoi’s high voter turnout (99.57%) and recent administrative reforms, including AI‑driven document management and a single‑account system for public services. Both officials stressed that achieving the growth target is a “responsibility and honour of the entire political system.”
