Hanoi to launch 114 social‑housing projects by end‑2026

The Hanoi People's Committee issued Directive 16, ordering the commencement of all 114 approved social‑housing projects within the last six months of 2026. The city aims to deliver 25,000‑27,000 apartments by that year, exceeding the minimum 18,700 units required by the prime minister. The projects total about 132,000 units and involve an investment of roughly VND 290.5 trillion.

To meet the schedule, Hanoi will cut administrative processing time by at least 50 % and apply a “green‑lane” mechanism for planning, investment, land and construction approvals. Projects with cleared sites are to start construction in July and August 2026. The city also decentralises detailed 1/500 planning approval to commune‑level authorities, sets strict deadlines for land‑release procedures, and tasks the Construction Department with fast‑track feasibility reviews and building permits within ten working days.
