Bệnh viện E suspends staff over radiotherapy bribery allegations
Bệnh viện E has suspended a group of medical staff in its Radiotherapy Department following reports that patients were tucking money into their appointment books to receive treatment more quickly. Reports indicate that patients were placing amounts between 50,000 and 100,000 VND in their books to avoid long wait times.
Video footage provided by journalists reportedly shows medical staff handling these sums of money. In their official statements, the involved staff members denied intentionally soliciting or demanding payments, though some acknowledged receiving 'thank you gifts' after treatment.
The Ministry of Health, through the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, has ordered Bệnh viện E to conduct a thorough investigation and strictly handle any violations. The hospital is required to publicly disclose the results of its investigation and submit a formal report to the Ministry by September 15, 2026. Bệnh viện E is also working with local security authorities and its internal inspection board to clarify the responsibilities of the individuals involved.
