Hanuman Ansh emerges as major box office success in India
The devotional drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’, inspired by the life of Neem Karoli Baba, has emerged as a major box office sleeper hit in India. Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film was produced on a modest budget of approximately ₹2 crore. Despite a quiet start with only 250 screens and a ₹10 lakh opening day, strong word of mouth has driven significant growth.
By its fourth week, the film has crossed the ₹50 crore net mark in India, with some reports suggesting total earnings could reach much higher. Cinépolis India, the film's exclusive distributor, scaled the release from 40 screens back up to over 2,000 screens as demand increased. The film has successfully maintained its momentum, even outperforming newer releases like ‘Toxic’ and ‘Irumudi’ in ticket sales.
A notable aspect of the production is the casting of Shobinaw Satyaa. Originally the second assistant director, Satyaa was cast as the lead character after the original actor fell ill. His performance has been widely praised, with viewers noting his resemblance to Neem Karoli Baba.
