Hanwha Systems maintains top CMMI Level 5 defense R&D rating for 17 years

Hanwha Systems has maintained the highest rating, ‘Level 5’, in the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) version 3.0 assessment for defense R&D. This marks the seventh consecutive time the company has achieved this top tier, representing a 17-year continuous streak since first receiving the certification in 2009, the longest record for a South Korean company.

The CMMI assessment, originally developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University at the request of the U.S. Department of Defense, evaluates process maturity across 19 domains and 185 items. Hanwha Systems demonstrated excellence in R&D process management for various sectors, including radar, satellites, combat management systems (CMS), and command, control, and communications.

Achieving CMMI Level 5 is significant for global defense cooperation, as major international firms such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing often require this certification for business partnerships and export contracts.
