Hari Santri 2026: Events and awards announced in Taiwan and Indonesia

Various organizations are organizing events to commemorate Hari Santri 2026. In Taiwan, the Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) is hosting a series of competitions to engage Generation Z and Indonesian migrant workers. These activities include Quranic recitation (MTQ), short story and essay contests, and a futsal tournament that attracted participants from Indonesia, Thailand, Iraq, South Korea, Japan, and Egypt.

In Indonesia, the National Awakening Party (PKB) has announced the PKB Award 2026. The initiative includes a total prize pool of Rp1 billion to recognize the contributions of santri (students of Islamic boarding schools). The awards aim to appreciate students who excel in traditional Islamic scholarship, digital technology development, and spreading Islamic values through arts and culture.
