Sri Lanka achieves historic 430-run run chase against England

Sri Lanka secured a historic victory over England in the third ODI of the tri-nation series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, successfully chasing down a mammoth target of 430 runs. The win, achieved with just one ball remaining, marks the second-highest successful run chase in One-Day International history.

England captain Harry Brook set a significant record during the match, becoming the first English batter to score an ODI double century. His 202 runs off 116 deliveries, including 21 fours and 10 sixes, helped England post a massive total of 429 for four. Other notable contributions for England included 69 from Joe Root and an unbeaten 66 from Will Jacks.

Sri Lanka’s pursuit was anchored by Pavan Rathnayake, who scored 130 runs off 106 balls. Avishka Fernando (97) and Dasun Shanaka (97) also provided critical aggressive innings. Janith Liyanage sealed the two-wicket victory by hitting a six off the penultimate ball of the match, finishing with an unbeaten 61 off 27 deliveries.
