Harry Potter celebrates 25th anniversary with cinema re-releases and marathons

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, various cinema events are being organized around the release of the first Harry Potter film. Warner Bros. is leveraging nostalgia with the theatrical re-release of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in August 2026, serving as a precursor to a new Harry Potter series set to debut on HBO on December 25.

In France, specifically in the Lorraine region, several theaters are hosting marathons to screen all eight films in the saga. The Kinepolis cinemas in Nancy, Thionville, and Metz-Muse are offering 24-hour continuous screenings on August 29 and 30, 2026, with tickets priced at 50 euros. Additionally, the UGC Ludres theater will host a split screening, showing the first four films on Saturday and the remaining four on Sunday for 40 euros.
