Harry Styles and Thom Yorke discuss music and creative processes
Harry Styles and Thom Yorke, the lead singer of Radiohead, participated in a joint interview for Rolling Stone’s ‘Musicians on Musicians’ edition. During the conversation, Styles reflected on his early years with One Direction, noting that he used to experience a fear of being in public. He shared that walking helped him overcome this insecurity and influenced his creative process.
The two artists also recounted their first meeting on a street in Rome. Styles recalled recognizing Yorke by his ‘Acid’ cap while listening to Radiohead’s album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’. Yorke expressed surprise at the encounter, noting that he was confused to see Styles walking without security.
Regarding their musical perspectives, Yorke discussed his songwriting evolution, mentioning that he is not a fan of the singer-songwriter format and prefers folk, film, or electronic music. He specifically noted that he wishes he had not written the song ‘High And Dry’ from the album ‘The Bends’.
