Hartz und herzlich participants face personal and financial challenges

New episodes of the RTLZWEI social documentary series ‘Hartz und herzlich’ follow the lives of several participants facing financial and personal hardships.

Jasmin, who is currently unemployed and homeless, has announced she is pregnant with her third child. Her first two children are currently in the care of the youth welfare office. Jasmin and her partner Maik are currently staying with an acquaintance named Bärbel, which has led to domestic tensions regarding household organization and food storage.

In another segment, Janine, a recipient of citizen's benefit (Bürgergeld), spent a day at the ‘Mannheimer Mess’ fair with her brother and six-year-old twins. Despite her limited financial resources, she treated the family to rides and obtained a new piercing during the outing.
