Haruhi Suzumiya 20th Anniversary: Streaming Marathons and Themed Events

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the anime series ‘The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’, various events and streaming marathons are being held in Japan.

On the ABEMA streaming platform, a dedicated channel will operate from August 16 to August 19. The schedule includes the free streaming of all 28 episodes of the 2009 television series and the film ‘The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya’. Notably, on August 17, the platform will host a 12-hour continuous broadcast of the ‘Endless Eight’ arc, consisting of eight episodes that depict a repeating summer vacation loop.

In Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Create Nishinomiya at LaLaport Koshien will host an ‘Endless Eight’ themed event from August 15 to August 31. The installation will feature Haruhi-themed exhibits and ‘homework’ challenges for visitors. This coincides with a broader 20th-anniversary campaign involving JR Central and local tourism initiatives, including walking maps of Nishinomiya.
