Haryana EC Publishes Revised Voter List After SIR Clean‑up
After the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana, the Election Commission released the format of the revised voter list for all 90 assembly constituencies. Twenty‑thousand six hundred twenty‑nine booth‑level officers distributed count forms to more than 2.06 crore registered voters; by 24 July, 1.72 crore had submitted them.
The SIR identified about 24.13 lakh voters who had moved or were absent, 7.66 lakh deceased voters and 2.04 lakh duplicate entries. Across nine states and three union territories, over 6 lakh dead names were removed, cutting the combined electoral roll by roughly 10.2 %.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal affirmed that the process is unbiased and follows constitutional provisions, with internal quality checks, audits and public publication of both draft and final lists. A claim and objection window runs from 31 July to 30 August, after which the final list will be published on 3 October.
