Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini launches state‑wide anti‑drug task forces
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a comprehensive anti‑drug campaign, forming task forces at the state, district, block, and village levels. The initiative, presented at the "Ek Police, Ek Sankalp – Drug‑Free Haryana" programme in Karnal, brought together roughly 600 Station House Officers (SHOs) and officials from health, education, social welfare, youth and women groups, as well as voluntary organisations.
The government will allocate an additional ₹10 crore to the Investigation Head for enforcement, develop a software‑based monitoring system to track dual‑purpose medicines, and create a reward policy for police officers who achieve drug‑free jurisdictions. Plans include setting up modern de‑addiction and rehabilitation centres in every district, with priority for vulnerable areas, and deputing medical officers to support police personnel and families. Saini emphasized that the fight against drugs is a societal campaign, urging police to engage regularly with schools, colleges, panchayats and youth clubs to keep young people away from narcotics.
The chief minister also praised recent police successes in extraditing criminals and called for a people’s movement to sustain a drug‑free Haryana.
