Hashim Djojohadikusumo launches Manggarai affordable housing project

Hashim Djojohadikusumo, head of the Housing Task Force, emphasized the Indonesian government's commitment to providing affordable and decent housing to fulfill the principle of social justice. During the groundbreaking ceremony for the Manggarai affordable housing project in Jakarta, he highlighted that the project serves as a concrete step toward addressing the housing needs of the broader population.

The Manggarai project is noted as a significant achievement, being the first 24-story vertical housing development located in central Jakarta designed for low-income communities.

Djojohadikusumo also raised concerns regarding long-term infrastructure sustainability, noting that maintenance and management are often national weaknesses. He urged the government to prioritize routine upkeep to ensure that the quality of the buildings remains high for decades, rather than just focusing on the initial construction quality.
