Hashim Thaçi faces verdict on November 17 in justice interference case

The Specialized Kosovo Chambers in The Hague have announced that a verdict for former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and four other defendants will be delivered on November 17, 2026. The case involves charges of interference with justice, including the disclosure of confidential information regarding witnesses and attempting to influence testimony.

The prosecution has requested a six-year prison sentence for Thaçi, proposing that this sentence be served consecutively to his existing 25-year sentence for war crimes. Additionally, the prosecution requested that time spent in pre-trial detention not be deducted from this new sentence.

The other four defendants, all former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), face varying requested sentences: Bashkim Smakaj, Isni Kiljaj, and Fadilj Fazliju have been recommended for three years of imprisonment each, while Hajredin Kuçi faces a requested sentence of nine months. The defendants have maintained their innocence, with Thaçi's defense arguing that there is insufficient evidence for a conviction.
