Turkish municipalities ramp up road and asphalt projects in 2026
Municipalities across Turkey are accelerating road‑building, resurfacing and related infrastructure works in 2026. Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü announced a 400 million TL asphalt budget, complemented by a 100 million TL sidewalk programme, for a total of 500 million TL. The General Directorate of Highways listed numerous temporary lane closures and controlled traffic on major routes such as the TEM, Ankara‑Niğde and TAG motorways. Hatay’s metropolitan authority scheduled asphalt work at 85 sites in August, covering districts from Antakya to Samandağ. In Kemer, the ASAT directorate is installing a 50‑km drinking‑water network and new sewer lines. Manisa’s Köprübaşı district saw its first hot‑asphalt paving on a 2‑km stretch of Hükümet Caddesi, accompanied by sidewalks, bike lanes and green‑area upgrades. Ankara and surrounding provinces continue extensive road repairs, with controlled traffic on several highways. Uçhisar town is renewing water, sewage and storm‑water pipelines throughout its neighbourhoods.
