Turkey reports multiple fires, landslides, and residential emergencies

Turkey has experienced several localized emergencies involving fires, landslides, and structural risks.

In Tunceli, a five-story residential building housing 12 apartments was evacuated after a landslide occurred near its foundation during construction excavation work in the Yurtkur area. Residents reported feeling tremors and expressed concerns regarding the proximity of the excavation to the building.

Multiple fires were reported across various regions. In Ankara’s Mamak district, a forest fire in a wooded area was brought under control after eight hours; authorities confirmed the fire was intentionally set and one individual has been taken into custody. In Bursa, three separate forest fires broke out near the foothills of Uludağ, prompting aerial and ground interventions. In Manisa, a lightning strike caused a fire in the Davutlar neighborhood, which was contained by local residents using a municipal fire tanker.

Urban fires also caused significant damage. In Istanbul’s Eminönü district, a fire in a basement shop selling phone cases led to two firefighters being affected by heavy smoke. In Antalya, a fire caused by an air conditioning unit in a residential apartment rendered the unit unusable, leading to a building evacuation. In Hatay, a residential fire believed to be caused by electrical wiring resulted in injuries to a man who was attempting to rescue his family.
