Hateco and Maersk partner to develop railway freight stations in Vietnam

Hateco Group and APM Terminals (APMT), a member of A.P. Moller – Maersk, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to research, invest in, and operate a network of railway freight stations in northern Vietnam.

Signed on October 20, 2026, in Denmark during the Vietnam–Denmark Business Forum, the agreement expands strategic cooperation between the two entities from seaport infrastructure to railway connectivity. The partnership aims to develop a multimodal logistics ecosystem and enhance Vietnam’s international trade connectivity.

Under the MOU, the companies will collaborate on developing a freight station in Hai Phong, which will include a cargo processing center and storage systems. They also plan to research three additional locations in northern Vietnam to connect industrial zones, manufacturing centers, and logistics hubs with the seaport system. Preliminary total investment for the planned projects is estimated at approximately $3.5 billion.
