Hatem Ben Arfa's talent and character recalled by former teammate

Former French international Hatem Ben Arfa is remembered by former teammates for his exceptional raw talent and unpredictable personality. Former Nice goalkeeper Yoan Cardinale described Ben Arfa as the most talented player he encountered during his career, noting that his technical ability and imagination often made it feel as though he was playing at a different level than his teammates.

Cardinale shared anecdotes from Ben Arfa’s time at OGC Nice, particularly during the 2015-2016 season when he scored 17 league goals. He described the midfielder as a player who lived in his own world, characterized by immense confidence and an eccentric temperament. One instance involved Ben Arfa laughing at an opponent's defensive lineup, confidently stating his intention to dominate the central defenders.

While Ben Arfa has not officially announced a retirement from football, his recent activities have suggested a shift toward other interests, though some former associates believe he remains capable of performing at a high level.
