Hatem Ben Arfa career reflections and transfer rumors
Overview
Former French international Hatem Ben Arfa has been the subject of retrospective reflections by former teammates and managers regarding his professional career and potential return to football.
Former Nice goalkeeper Yoan Cardinale recently recalled Ben Arfa’s exceptional technical ability and eccentric temperament, describing him as the most talented player he encountered. Cardinale highlighted Ben Arfa’s 2015-2016 season at OGC Nice, noting his immense confidence and tendency to live in ‘his own world.’
Further details emerged regarding a potential comeback, with former manager Claude Puel revealing that a return to OGC Nice was seriously considered last winter. Although club president Jean-Pierre Rivère reportedly initiated the proposal, Puel ultimately declined the move. Puel cited the high risk of destabilizing the squad during a Ligue 1 relegation battle, despite noting that Ben Arfa had remained active in padel since his last professional appearance in April 2022.
