Hato Mayor ride owner arrested after accident injures three

The owner of the mechanical ride known as ‘La Estrellita’ was arrested in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic, following a serious accident during local patron saint festivities. The incident occurred on Friday, September 18, when a seat detached from the ride while in motion, causing injuries to two girls and one adult woman.

One of the children remains in intensive care on a respirator, while the other minor has shown improvement and moved to a regular hospital room. The owner appeared before a court to face coercion measures after being taken into custody by the Public Ministry.

Local prosecutor Marleni Guante stated that investigations are underway, including a review of all installation and operating permits. Authorities have requested the closure of the site to prevent the movement of equipment during the investigation.
