Havan projects R$ 22 billion revenue amid high tax burden
The Brazilian retail chain Havan, led by founder Luciano Hang, projects a revenue of R$ 22 billion and expects to pay approximately R$ 6 billion in taxes in 2026. This tax obligation is expected to exceed the company's projected net profit for the period.
Despite facing a high tax burden and significant bureaucratic hurdles, Havan is pursuing an expansion strategy. The company plans to invest R$ 1.2 billion to open 15 new units in 2026, with a long-term goal of reaching 300 locations. Expansion efforts will prioritize medium-sized cities and the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.
Luciano Hang has cited bureaucracy as a major obstacle to growth, noting instances where obtaining necessary permits took decades. For example, a site in Matinhos, Paraná, has remained inactive for four years due to regulatory impasses, and the company has yet to open a store in São Paulo due to municipal bureaucracy.
