Havan retail expansion and financial projections
Overview
Brazilian retailer Havan, led by Luciano Hang, has initiated a significant expansion strategy following a record-breaking 2025, in which the company reported R$ 18.5 billion in revenue and R$ 3.5 billion in net profit. The company initially announced plans for a R$ 1.5 billion investment to open 15 new stores, with an estimated cost of R$ 100 million per unit, and to upgrade its logistics infrastructure. This includes a R$ 250 million investment to add 50,000 square meters to its Barra Velha distribution center in Santa Catarina. As the expansion progresses, Havan has updated its financial outlook, projecting R$ 22 billion in revenue for 2026. However, the company anticipates a substantial tax burden of approximately R$ 6 billion, which is expected to exceed its projected net profit. Despite these financial pressures and what Hang describes as significant bureaucratic hurdles, the company remains committed to its growth, prioritizing medium-sized cities and the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.
Recent milestones include the inauguration of the company’s 199th megastore in Londrina, Paraná. This 18,000-square-meter facility, which features a food court and a playground, was chosen to serve both Londrina and Cambé, employing 200 direct workers. Additionally, Havan has confirmed a R$ 100 million project for a new mega-store in Torres, Rio Grande do Sul, and announced plans for a R$ 110 million store in Tijucas, Santa Catarina, with construction expected to begin in 2027. To fund this growth, Hang intends to utilize R$ 3.5 billion in cash and financial investments, maintaining a model of large-scale ‘megalojas’ without seeking new investors or an IPO.
