The Hawk Fire, a fast-moving wildfire in Northern Nevada, has expanded to over 15,000 acres and remains 0% contained. The blaze, which originated near the Sierra Nevada foothills and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, has moved toward urban areas near Reno, prompting massive evacuations. Approximately 42,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate, while another 45,000 have been placed on high alert.

Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a state of emergency in Washoe County and mobilized the Nevada National Guard to assist with aerial firefighting and neighborhood security. At least six people, including three civilians and three first responders, have been injured. The fire has caused power outages for nearly 10,000 customers and forced the closure of portions of U.S. Route 395.

A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was human-caused, though specific details regarding the cause are still under investigation. Firefighting efforts involve approximately 800 to 1,000 personnel from local, state, and federal agencies. Extreme weather conditions, including strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation, continue to fuel the fire's rapid spread.
