Hazar Lake cleanup in Elazığ, Turkey led by Governor Numan Hatipoğlu
An environmental clean‑up was carried out on the shores of Hazar Lake in the Sivrice district of Elazığ, Turkey. The operation was coordinated by Governor Numan Hatipoğlu and the provincial protocol, aiming to raise public awareness of waste management. Participants gathered plastic, glass bottles, nylon, cigarette butts, paper and picnic litter.
The event also involved AK Party MPs, the chief public prosecutor, the police chief, the rector of Fırat University, the mayor of Sivrice, more than 80 municipal staff, 40 individuals under supervised release, and a lake‑cleaning vehicle donated by the Ministry of Defense. Governor Hatipoğlu highlighted the lake’s value, the operation of two water‑treatment plants, ongoing post‑earthquake sewage projects, and the goal of changing citizens’ cleaning habits.
