HAZU BiH marks Teacher's Day with forum in Mostar

The Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a formal forum in Mostar to mark Teacher's Day. Held at the University of Mostar campus, the event brought together academic and educational leaders to discuss the current status and challenges facing educators.

HAZU President Mladen Bevanda emphasized the need for a more scientific and professional approach to education. He noted that while schools are increasingly staffed by professionals, public perception is often skewed by isolated incidents of violence. Bevanda highlighted that while physical violence receives significant attention, other forms of harm—such as verbal, spiritual, and cultural violence—are frequently overlooked. He also stressed the importance of the educational and formative role of teachers beyond mere instruction.

Šimun Musa, President of the HAZU Assembly, remarked on the difficult position of teachers in modern society, noting the balance between maintaining technological and scientific standards and the evolving nature of literary and historical interpretation in the classroom.
