HD Hyundai Heavy Industries signs 956 billion KRW US data center power deal
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a contract with US energy infrastructure developer Coban Energy Group to supply power generation equipment worth 956 billion KRW (approximately $700 million). The project involves providing 1,000MW of power generation capacity based on the company's 9.6MW HiMSEN engines.
These power generation facilities will serve as electricity sources for major US big-tech data centers. This agreement follows a previous contract in April with AEG for data center power equipment worth 627.1 billion KRW, bringing the total value of HD Hyundai's US data center power equipment orders this year to 1.58 trillion KRW.
The HiMSEN engines are high-output, high-efficiency medium-speed engines designed for 24-hour continuous operation, making them suitable for the stable power requirements of AI and cloud infrastructure data centers. The HD Hyundai Group is responding to the growing demand through its subsidiaries, including HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai Electric, and HD Hyundai Marine Solution.
