HD Hyundai launches BRP Rajah Humabon for Philippine Navy

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has launched the BRP Rajah Humabon (PS22), the third of six 2,400-ton Rajah Sulayman-class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) ordered by the Philippine Navy. The ceremonial launch took place at the company’s shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

The 94-meter vessel is designed to enhance maritime domain awareness and coastal defense. It features a cruising speed of 15 knots, an operational range of 5,500 nautical miles, and is equipped with a 76mm main naval gun, a 30mm secondary gun, surveillance radar, and electro-optical tracking equipment.

Following the launch, the ship will undergo fitting-up operations, subsystem installations, and sea trials to ensure operational viability. The vessel is scheduled for official delivery to the Philippine Navy by February 2027. This project is part of a broader modernization effort, with four additional vessels in the class expected to follow.
