He-Man movie tops Prime Video after box‑office flop
The 2026 fantasy film *He‑Man and the Masters of the Universe* opened in theatres to disappointing box‑office results, earning roughly $110 million worldwide—well below its $165‑$200 million budget. Critical reception was mixed, with a 67 % Rotten Tomatoes score, while audiences gave it an 86 % approval rating.
After its theatrical run, the movie was released on Amazon’s Prime Video platform on 22 July 2026. Within hours it surged to the number‑one spot in more than 50 countries and topped Prime Video’s Top 10 list, demonstrating that the audience preferred streaming the adventure at home. The strong streaming performance has reignited talk of a possible sequel, despite the earlier theatrical failure.
The film was directed by Travis Knight for Amazon MGM Studios and features a cast that includes Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He‑Man, alongside Idris Elba, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie and Jared Leto. The story follows Adam’s return to the planet Eternia and his battle to protect the Castle of Grayskull.
