Health authorities in Indonesia issue warnings over respiratory infections

Health authorities in Indonesia are issuing warnings regarding Acute Respiratory Infections (ISPA) due to environmental factors. In Cirebon, the Health Office has urged vulnerable groups—including those with asthma, diabetes, or compromised immune systems—to monitor symptoms such as fever, cough, and respiratory distress, particularly during hot and dry weather.

In Palangka Raya, health officials reported a decrease in ISPA cases during September 2026, with 2,076 recorded cases compared to 3,104 in August. Despite the decline, haze from forest and land fires continues to affect the region. Officials attribute the drop in cases to increased public awareness and residents limiting outdoor activities during periods of poor air quality.
